Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk & Valentine Lipsticks

Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Lip Cheat is a favourite within the beauty industry and hands down my personal favourite lip liner- it’s the most beautiful neutral pink and goes with the vast majority of the lipsticks I own (I’m a huge fan of pinky nudes). So when I heard that Charlotte was bringing out Pillow Talk in lipstick form I was ridiculously happy and ordered it as soon as it was released. Charlotte also came out with another limited edition shade for Valentine’s Day – named Valentine, naturally – which I also decided to add to my order, and I am very glad I did.

Pillow Talk is part of the Matte Revolution range, which I haven’t had any prior experience with as all of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks I own are in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula. The lipstick is pretty much identical to the Pillow Talk lip cheat (swatches above) and on my lips it is the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade. I am seriously in LOVE with this lipstick and feel as though it would look amazing on every skin tone- it is also super pigmented, goes on evenly and is long-lasting.

I was very undecided as to whether I really needed another pink toned nude when placing my order on Charlotte Tilbury, but I let my obsession get the better of me and ended up ordering Valentine as well, which is from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G range. I absolutely love this shade and although I own an excessive amount of lipsticks, this is unlike anything else in my collection. I would best describe this shade as a rose petal pink, and again it goes perfectly with the Pillow Talk liner. This is the perfect pinky nude for lighter skin tones and I know I will definitely get a lot of wear out of this in Spring/Summer.

I am so pleased with both of these lipsticks and if I wasn’t on a student budget I’d definitely be ordering back-ups of both (as far as I am aware, they are both limited edition- although I really wish they weren’t)! Both shades retail for £24 and are exclusive to the Charlotte Tilbury website and her London stores; they are both still currently available online so snap them up whilst you can!

NARS Barbara Audacious Lipstick Dupe

Beauty

fullsizerenderNARS has to be one of my most loved make-up brands (their Laguna bronzer was one of the first high-end make-up purchases I ever made) and so I can’t believe it has taken me this long to try one of their raved about Audacious lipsticks. I recently picked up the shade Barbara, and I would go as far to say that this is my favourite lipstick formula I’ve ever tried. It’s SO creamy and completely opaque with one swipe, plus it lasts for hours.

I knew I wanted one of the nudes, but I was very undecided over which one to go for as they are all so pretty! I eventually decided upon Barbara, which is described by NARS as a ‘tan rose’. On me it is the perfect peachy-pink beige. However, when I got home and swatched the lipstick, I knew for certain that Barbara is a dupe for another lipstick I already own: MAC Velvet Teddy.

swatchesThese lipsticks are near enough identical except Barbara looks slightly more pink when applied. Barbara is also quite similar to MAC Viva Glam II– in fact I’d say if you mixed together Viva Glam II and Velvet Teddy, you’d get Barbara! If you already own Velvet Teddy, I wouldn’t say you really need NARS Barbara as well (however Velvet Teddy is one of my most loved lipsticks and so I am happy to have a dupe)! In terms of cost, MAC lipsticks are much cheaper at £15.50, whereas NARS cost £24. Although the price of NARS lipsticks is rather steep, I personally don’t mind spending that bit extra as the quality and formulation is THAT good and I will definitely be picking up more shades from the Audacious range in the near future!
